Colonel Sergei Kuzmich Bunachenko, as commander of the Soviet 389th Infantry Division on the Caucasian Front during the defensive fighting in August 1942, was ordered to blow up a bridge over the Terek River. However, some of his soldiers did not manage to get across the bridge, Buňačenko did not fire him to save them. In September 1942, he was sentenced to death by shooting in a military court of the Northern Group of Transcaucasian Front troops for disobeying an order. The verdict was subsequently commuted to 10 years of forced labor to be carried out after the war. He became commander of the 89th Rifle Brigade.

In the fall of 1942, during the rainy season, the North Caucasus hunts, the Rapid Division troops transported food, supplies and ammunition through the flooded river on boats and inflatable boats. Subsequently to the defensive line in the Caucasus Mountains with a diligent march.

In autumn rains, only track vehicles or horse-drawn wagons were able to move on North Caucasus roads. After breaking the Romanian front lines in the battle of Stalingrad, the commander of the 6th Infantry Division, Major General Mihail Lascăr, took command of the remains of the Romanian 3rd Army and continued fighting for another 4 days. He was captured on November 22, 1942.

Dva prápory sovietskeho 723. streleckého pluku vstúpili do aulu Edepsukaja do boku Rýchlej divízie na Kubáni. 

V priebehu troch dní sa časti troch peších jednotiek Rýchlej divízie padli do zajatia v dovtedy nebývalom počte. Javí sa, že Nemci nikdy neodhalili Jurechove rokovania s Rusmi, ale si uvedomovali, že hrozí veľký slovenský kolaps. Keďže posledné nemecké formácie medzitým ustúpili z hĺbky Kaukazu a na Kubánskom predmostí sa držal  súvislý, aj keď slabý front, nebolo nevyhnutné držať Slovákov v línii, ako l - 4. februára.

Before the decline of the majority of the Rapid Division in the North Caucasus to the Crimea at the end of February 1943 he was part of the vehicles passed on the orders of the Oberkommando des Heeres (Army Group A) units of the Wehrmacht and was part of the command headquarters RD.

When the Western Allies learned of the talks, they were interrupted and the war continued.

General of Infantry Sigismund von Förster took over the command of the Crimea on July 22, 1943.
