V listine Bytčianskeho panstva sa ako rok založenia uvádza rok 1598, kedy územie patrilo Turzovcom. Šoltýsom osady Turzovka bol Adam Bonec a 40 osadníkov z nedalekého Dlhého Poľa, ktorí boli na 12 rokov oslobodení od daní. Vymedzenie hraníc Turzovky vydal v lokačnej listine v roku 1602 palatín Georgius Thurzo (son of Franciskus I. Thurzo and Catherine Zrinski), pričom prvé storočie sa používal názov Turzovka, aliter Predmir dicti (Turzovka, inak nazývaná Predmier). Po smrti palatína Juraja Turzu a jeho syna Imricha pripadlo Bytčianske panstvo venom Mikulášovi Esterházimu. Esterháziovci rozdelili panstvá na obvody, spravované prefektmi na majeroch. Správca Turzovky sídlil v Bytči. Hlavnou formou obživy obyvateľov bol popri povinných prácach na panskom majetku pastiersky chov oviec, práca v lese a splavovanie dreva. V Turzovke bolo 15 mlynov a 16 píl, ktoré z vyťaženého dreva pílili dosky a zhotovovali šindeľ. Esterháziovci predali ?! Bytčianske panstvo v roku 1868 Leopoldovi Popperovi, ktorý veľkú časť majetku prenajal. Veľmi tragické pre Turzovku obdobie I. svetovej vojny, v ktorej padlo okolo 500 obyvateľov a epidémia škvrnitého týfu si vyžiadala ďalších 450 obetí.
Krvavé udalosti na Kysuciach. Jeden ťažšie a dvaja ľahšie ranení. Päť zatknutých - Rúbali v cudzom lese. Na Kysuciach došlo v týchto dňoch k nepokojom. Obyvatelia kopanice Turzovky si za vojny kúpili od býv. grófa Balaestrema vyše 7 jutár lesa. Kúpnopredajnú zmluvu za ženy (muži boli vo vojne) uzatvárali notár Rudolf Mičura a farár Jozef Diera. Bola písaná maďarsky a práve táto udalosť zavinila nedorozumenie, ktoré už viac ráz mohlo mať zlé následky a ktoré teraz vyvolalo krvoprelievanie. Ľudia si mysleli že im patí nie 7, ale 14 jutár lesa. Niektorí komunistickí agitátori presviedčali ľudí, že majú na les právo, nech si ho len vyrúbu - a ľudia začali rúbať na všetkých 14. jutrách. Prišiel k nim lesník Planetovec a vyzval ľudí aby zanechali rúbanie. Odpovedali mu palicami a sekerami. Lesník nebol vyzbrojený, na jeho obranu sa postavili hájnici Mustik a Gajdoš. Prvý bol ranený ľahšie, ale zranenie Gajdoša je veľmi vážne. Udalosti teraz vyšetrujú četníci. Zatkli týchto: Tomáša a Jána Nehoranca, Pavla Kolesára, Pavla a Jána Merecu.
